Disconnect/Reconnection of Water Service

If the water service to a property is disconnected, customers must pay a $50.40 disconnect/reconnect fee.  Once disconnected, all past due balances must be paid in full and customers must bring their Deposit to current requirements.

Recourse for a High Water Bill

If a water bill is disputed, a resident may request any or all of the following:

  • Request a re-read and, if necessary, bill will be adjusted
  • Request that their meter be tested.  If the test determines that the water meter is over registering, the Water Department will replace the meter and adjust the water bill - at no cost to the customer.  However, if the test results show that the meter is under registering or registering accurately within the American Water Works Associate standards, then the customer will be charged the cost of checking the meter.

Sewer

You are charged for sewer use on your water bill.  This is for water that is returned via sewer lines to the Trenton Wastewater Treatment Plant facility for treatment to reclaim the water.

The sewer bill is based upon your actual water use up to 10,000 gallons for Residential.

The residential base rate for sewer is $17.15 PLUS $5.08 per 1,000 gallons used, up to 10,000 gallons.

Commercial I rates are $25.90 PLUS $5.08 per 1,000 gallons used, up to 10,000 gallons.

Comercial II is for customers with an average usage of 12,000 gallons or more per month.

Garbage

You are charged for garbage service on your water bill as well.  This is governed by a City Ordinance and everyone who has City water/sewer is also charged for garbage. The garbage bill is $24.07 per month per 96-gallon container, which is picked up twice a week.

Pickup days are Tuesday and Friday, except for designated holidays. (When a garbage pickup day falls on a holiday, the hauler will pick up garbage on another day during that week to ensure two pickups are made in the week.)  The garbage container is provided to you by the garbage hauler and is the ONLY container they will pick up.

We ask that you keep cans in the back of the home on non-garbage pickup days.  All household garbage and yard trash must be placed by the side of the road before 7 a.m.on the day of pickup.

Yard trash is also picked up by the garbage hauler once a week on a day of their choice.   Yard trash consists of leaves (that are bagged) and limbs that are cut to 3-4 foot lengths and bundled together.  Leave the yard trash at the curb and the hauler will remove all or part of it and will pick up the rest the next week.

If you have questions regarding the above, please call 463-4000 for further information.
